A delicious dish that helps save a lot of time, and besides, it’s not a shame to treat your friends. I opened it quite recently, and now I cook lazy cabbage rolls every week. I make them in the oven in different ways so that I don’t get tired of them.

How to cook lazy cabbage rolls in the oven, a few tips

In preparing the classic version of the dish, preparing the cabbage, wrapping the minced meat, and frying it is quite cumbersome. The lazy option is much faster, however, it also has its own nuances.

  1. Be responsible when choosing minced meat; it should not be dry or liquid. The best option would be pork and beef, one to one. Moderately fatty, it will not allow the cabbage rolls to fall apart.
  2. Rice must be prepared correctly. Usually they take the same amount as minced meat. The cereal must be cooked until half cooked. Just don’t need to rinse it; it is the gluten released during cooking that will allow the dish to better hold its shape. I always use round rice, it has better stickiness.
  3. There are no special requirements for cabbage, except that it must be fresh. Instead of white cabbage, you can take Beijing cabbage.
  4. When preparing the gravy, the presence of carrots, onions, mushrooms, and other vegetables you like is allowed.
  5. Most often, I use tomato or sour cream sauce for baking cabbage rolls in the oven. Well, or a combination of them together. It’s also delicious served with regular Bechamel sauce.
  6. What is minced meat without onions? It turns out delicious lightly fried in butter. If you really don’t have time, you can grind it with a blender. Adding garlic is also allowed.
  7. Cabbage rolls are usually baked in a baking tray. But they taste better in thick-walled cast iron or ceramic dishes.

Mix tomato juice with sour cream, squeeze a couple of cloves of garlic into it. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls and place in the oven for 40 minutes.

Before serving, you can add additional sauce to each serving. Sprinkle the dish with chopped herbs and serve it with fresh vegetables.

Option 3: Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven with tomato-sour cream sauce and mushrooms

The peculiarity of this recipe is that ordinary white cabbage is replaced with Chinese cabbage. The dish is ideal for vegetarians and those who fast. Instead of meat, delicious mushrooms are added to cabbage rolls.

Ingredients:

  • Mushrooms - 200 g;
  • Beijing cabbage (leaves) - 200 g;
  • Tomato paste - 20 ml;
  • Sour cream - 20 g;
  • Bulb;
  • Rice - 50 g.

Step by step recipe

Rinse the rice several times. Fill it with hot water.

Wash the mushrooms, cut them into strips or slices. Place them in a frying pan with vegetable oil and fry until the liquid evaporates.

Peel and chop the onion. Add it to the mushrooms, simmer everything together for a few more minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour the rice into the pan, after draining the liquid. Mix all the minced meat ingredients and continue frying.

Cut the cabbage leaves into small squares. Use half of them to line the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Preheat the oven to 200°.

Form oblong cutlets from minced mushrooms.

Distribute the cabbage rolls over the entire surface of the mold. Place remaining cabbage leaves on top. Sprinkle with salt.

Dilute the tomato paste with boiled warm water. Pour this mixture over the cabbage rolls and brush them with sour cream. Place in the oven for 40 minutes.

When the dish is ready, do not immediately remove it from the hot oven. Let it simmer for about another quarter of an hour.

During the season, you can use chanterelles, russula or boletus. In winter, you will have to limit yourself to champignons or oyster mushrooms. To improve the taste and aroma, add some dried wild mushrooms to the sauce.

Option 4: Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven in tomato and sour cream sauce with sauerkraut

This recipe is considered extremely simple. No need to waste time processing cabbage, just buy a bucket of sauerkraut. Instead of tomato juice, you can use canned tomatoes pureed in a blender.

Ingredients:

  • Rice - 500 g;
  • Sauerkraut - 1 kg;
  • Garlic - 3 cloves;
  • 3 onions;
  • Minced meat - 750 g;
  • Sour cream - 70 g;
  • Oil for frying - 50 ml;
  • Tomato juice - 1.5 l.

How to cook

You need to start, as always, by preparing rice. Boil it in salted water for about 15 minutes after the liquid boils.

Peel the onion and garlic and chop finely. Heat half the prepared oil in a frying pan and fry all three onions in it.

Squeeze the cabbage. Combine it with garlic, add cooled rice and onion. Salt and pepper to taste.

Mix the minced meat thoroughly. Add it to the rest of the ingredients and stir. Form small cutlets from the resulting mixture.

Grease the baking pan with the remaining oil. At the same time, turn on the oven at 180°.

Place the lazy cabbage rolls into the pan. Place them in the oven for 20 minutes.

Mix low-fat sour cream with tomato juice. Pour the resulting sauce over the cabbage rolls and cover the heat-resistant bowl tightly with foil. Return the dish to the oven for another hour and a half.

To ensure that the products keep their shape well without pre-frying, use fatty meat. A mixture of pork and beef is perfect for making cabbage rolls; you can even add a little lamb.

Option 5: Lazy diet cabbage rolls in the oven with tomato-sour cream sauce

To make cabbage rolls less caloric, you can cook them without rice. Instead of fatty minced meat, use chicken fillet. If everything is done correctly, the dish will turn out very juicy and healthy.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken fillet - 0.5 kg;
  • Large onion;
  • Garlic - 3 cloves;
  • Cabbage - 0.5 kg;
  • Greek yogurt - 200 ml;
  • Tomato paste - 30 g;
  • Sour cream - 20 g;
  • Carrot - 75 g;
  • Salt, spices.

Step by step recipe

Peel all vegetables. Cut the carrots and onions into quarters, and chop each clove of garlic in half. Place these ingredients in a blender bowl and grind.

Cut the fillet into small strips. Add it to vegetables, re-process the products with a blender. Instead, you can run them through a meat grinder. Season the resulting minced meat with salt and pepper.

Shred the cabbage, then mash it thoroughly with your hands. To save time, you can grate the vegetable. Add cabbage to the minced meat, mix well again.

While the oven preheats to 180 degrees, let's prepare the sauce. To do this, you need to combine tomato paste, yogurt and low-fat sour cream in one bowl. If necessary, add a little water. Salt the sauce and add spices.

With wet hands, form minced meat into patties. Place them on a baking sheet. Add water to cover each cabbage roll approximately halfway. Pour 2/3 of the tomato-sour cream sauce on top.

Cover the pan with cabbage rolls with foil and place it in the oven for 40 minutes. Then you will need to remove the foil and pour the remaining sauce over each cutlet. Let them bake for another 5 minutes.

If you don't want to give up grains in the recipe, use brown rice rather than round rice. It contains more iron, vitamins and cellulose. In addition, brown rice will help you get rid of hunger for a long time thanks to the fiber in its composition.

Grate the tomatoes without the skin. Pour the tomato puree into the frying pan and squeeze the garlic into it. Salt, add a mixture of peppers and suneli hops.

Dissolve sour cream in warm water. Pour the resulting liquid into the tomato sauce, stir until smooth.

Place the cabbage rolls in a heat-resistant form, pour in the sauce. Bake for 40 minutes.
