Robert was a successful but ordinary man, not much different from the young men of his time. He lived in his own apartment in the city center, built a business career in a large company, where he joined immediately after graduating from university. His life could not be called boring, although serious surprises or, especially, extraordinary events rarely happened in it. Is it just that relatively recently he began dating a pretty girl named Emma, whom he met under very curious circumstances...
But why then are we telling the story of a man for whom an ordinary acquaintance with a girl is a big event? This would really be strange if not for one “BUT” that happened to Robert on an early spring morning...
To be precise, everything happened on Friday May 25th, at 07.36 am. Robert woke up to the ringing of the alarm clock, as usual, sat for a minute on the edge of the bed with eyes closed, after which he wandered into the bathroom to clean himself up. He brushed his teeth, shaved, combed his hair, washed, wiped his face with a towel, looked at himself in the mirror and got ready to leave. But at some point it seemed to him that something was wrong with him. He looked in the mirror again, took a closer look at himself, touched his face... Deciding that it was his imagination, Robert smiled and winked at himself, but was immediately dumbfounded. The reflection in the mirror did not wink at its owner. Robert tried to do it again, but the reflection seemed to freeze on the other side of the mirror. The young man closed his eyes in fear and shook his head. When he opened his eyes again, his reflection was still standing motionless on the other side of the mirror and looking at its owner. And then he grinned brazenly and... winked... Robert’s head went spinning, his eyes darkened, and he fell unconscious. And when he woke up, his life ceased to be ordinary forever.
