The Circle of Light festival will open in the Rowing Canal on September 21, 2018 with the Carnival of Light show starting at 20:30. The video projection will consist of 12-meter cubes, more than 250 fountains over the water and more than 150 fire burners various types. Over the next two days, festivalgoers will be able to see reruns of the show (at 7:45 p.m.).

The 2018 Circle of Light festival is organized at several venues, some of which will host the event for the first time. This year in Tsaritsyno, guests will be treated to two new works as part of the festival, which will be shown on the façade of the Great Tsaritsyno Palace. This is the story of the Phoenix bird “Palace of Wanderings” and an audiovisual performance about the world of the future. In addition, portal structures to the world of the future will be installed, created from LED tubes and harmoniously integrated into the nature of the park. They can be read using smartphone cameras. On September 24, a concert by People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov will take place on the stage in front of the Grand Tsaritsyn Palace, accompanied by video projections on the facade of the palace.

Theater Square in 2018, it will use the facades of three theaters for light shows: Bolshoi, Maly and RAMT. A panoramic 270-degree video projection will be played out on three buildings. They will show a light novel about Spartak, as well as two light shows from last year, works international competition Art Vision.

Also on the Rowing Canal on September 25 from 20:30 to 21:30 the festival will close. The show was prepared by a team from Japan, and it is dedicated to the ending Year of Japan in Russia. In addition to the musical and pyrotechnic part, in which the volleys will be synchronized with music, spectators will be treated to launches large-caliber charges(up to 600 millimeters). The diameter of the opening in the sky of the largest of them will reach almost a kilometer. Each launch will be preceded by a story about Japanese traditions and a video projection.

On all days of the festival from 19:30 to 23:00 on the site "Theater Square" the light row will be projected onto the facades of three theaters - Bolshoi, Maly and RAMT. Three buildings will allow you to create panoramic 270 degree projection. Here they will show an allegorical light novel about Spartak, his struggle for personal freedom and spiritual liberation. You will also be able to see two thematic shows from last year’s festival - "Celestial Mechanics" and "Timeless" as well as the works of the finalists of the international competition "Art Vision" in the “Classic” category.






Portals and forest extravaganza

Every day from 19:30 to 23:00 at the museum-reserve "Tsaritsyno" Two light shows will be shown on the façade of the Grand Palace: the story of the Phoenix bird "Palace of Wanderings" and audiovisual performance about the world of the future. On September 22 and 23 from 11:00 to 17:00 in the Digital October center the presenters lighting design specialists and video projections will talk about the pitfalls of the organizational process, discuss technical innovations and current trends. September 22 from 22:00 to 23:30 in the concert hall "World" fans of club music will be welcomed at an international light and music party, during which a competition will take place between VJs from different parts of the world.

About the Festival

For five days, Moscow will once again turn into a city of light - lighting designers and specialists in the field of audiovisual art from all over the world will transform the architectural appearance of the capital. CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE FESTIVAL - PYROTECHNIC SHOW

Spectators can expect a bright 30-minute Japanese pyrotechnic show, which has no analogues in Russia. From four barges installed in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, hundreds of pyrotechnic charges will be launched, the largest of which, 600 mm caliber, has never been presented in Russia before. Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. They are superior in color and brightness to other fireworks, and the hand-made process, passed down from time immemorial, makes each projectile a true work art.

Digital October

From year to year, the site remains a constant meeting place for famous professionals in the field of visual art and aspiring light artists. The closing of the festival will be dedicated to the cross year of Japan and Russia. Spectators of the final performance will be surprised by a 40-minute show of Japanese pyrotechnics, known throughout the world for its unique beauty and scale. It will involve large-caliber charges, and the opening diameter of the largest of them will reach almost 1 km in the sky.

Also during the event there will be lectures and master classes by specialists in multimedia technologies and lighting design.
