After the show, video mapping competitions in the “classic” and “modern” categories will be held on Teatralnaya Square. Tens of thousands of Muscovites last week witnessed a grandiose, unique multimedia show, the scale of which can only be rivaled by two similar world festivals - in Hong Kong and Sydney. The annual festival "Circle of Light", organized by Moscow Department of Sports and Tourism in five days it attracted a record number of spectators not only from the capital and cities of Russia, but also guests from 40 countries. Recent advances in lighting design have turned the Ostankino TV tower into the Eiffel, and the great palace in Tsaritsyno into undersea world. This year, the organizers used several city venues - Ostankino, Teatralnaya Square, Tsaritsyno, Strogino, Patriarch's Ponds and others. Entry was free everywhere, so everyone who wanted to could see this fantastic spectacle.

FIREWORKS OF A THOUSAND SLOTS, FUJIYAMA AND MUSE

We attended the opening of the show in Ostankino. In 2017, the show’s masterminds decided to dedicate this site to the Year of Ecology, the birthday of the TV tower itself, and also the summit of the Great Towers of the World.

Those who were at the festival for the first time expected that the climax would be somewhere at the end of the hour-long performance. But that's not true. From the very first minutes, the audience opened their mouths, turned on the video recording on their smartphones and did not take their eyes off the site, where the pond was filled with fountains, the TV tower every few minutes turned into the famous high-rise buildings of the world, at its foot lay lavender fields and the Fuji volcano, the Ural Mountains and Lake Baikal , and next to all this spectacle there is an ice show. All this was magically combined with the music. The directors chose only the most famous world hits from such performers as Michael Jackson, Muse, Adele, Sting, David Carret, Charles Aznavour and others. This was accompanied by a fantastic fireworks display. Volleys of fireworks also came from the TV tower itself, which at times resembled a fire-breathing dragon. Hundreds of videos flew into viewers’ Instagrams, increasing the audience of this festival to millions.

Every time we try to surprise the viewer, come up with something new,” he told Komsomolskaya Pravda. director of the Ostankino site Vladimir Demekhin. - In particular, here, at the Ostankino site, we are presenting the largest venue in the history of the festival, because the entire length of the pond - 300 meters - is covered by various lighting, fountain equipment, burners, and probably this year we have the most interesting interaction between all tools. We also have a lot of innovations on other sites. In particular, on Teatralnaya Square this year it is not only the façade that is working Bolshoi Theater, but also the Maly Theater, several contents have been specially developed that will allow viewers to get more interesting experience viewing when two facades are working simultaneously. At the Tsaritsyno site there will be a fountain show featuring Russian classics and a series of experiments on the façade of the large Catherine Palace. We try to use multi-instrumentalism all the time, to use all the light sources that are available.

According to Vladimir Demekhin, the idea with ice show not new. But if in 2015 it was essentially a separate platform, then this one fit into the overall show, and the choreography on ice was magically combined with the choreography of water, light, and burners. By the way, this year famous figure skaters took part in the show - Tatyana Navka, Pyotr Chernyshov, Yuko Kawaguchi and Alexander Smirnov. A whole group of professional dancers skated on the ice with them.

Even the organizers cannot count how many pyrotechnics were used during the festival. On the first day alone, about a thousand volleys colored the sky at one site.

DELEGATIONS FROM 40 COUNTRIES and “FIELD OF MIRACLES”

By the way, the beginning of the show was dedicated to the Ostankino TV tower itself, its half-century anniversary. The audience saw the stages of her glorious journey and remembered best programs, which she broadcast these 50 years. Including “Time”, “KVN” and “Field of Miracles”.

The opening day of the festival coincided with the last day of the Great Towers of the World Summit, which took place in Ostankino. The association of great towers also includes Ostankino. And members of delegations from about 40 countries came to watch the “Circle of Light” festival. In addition, tickets to the stands were distributed among social funds. Of course, there weren’t enough seats in the stands for everyone; there were many more applications,” he says president of the group of companies LBL Tatiana Lifantieva.

Tatyana has no doubt that this “Circle of Light” was better than all previous festivals.

We took into account all the wishes that were from our guests, from our viewers in past years. And we did everything to surpass technically and creatively all the victories that we had before that day. It’s a pity, but this is not measured by Guinness,” the organizer regrets.

As Tatyana says, 200 million rubles were spent on holding the festival in Ostankino (the show took place here for two days). This is both a subsidy from the city and money from sponsors, of which the festival has many. The idea for this show has been coming up since January, and by April it was fully planned out. As the organizers say, they will begin preparing for the new festival as soon as the current one ends. This means that they are already thinking today about how to surprise us at the Circle of Light in 2018.

On famous architectural objects you can see 3D video mapping and plot presentations.

SHOULD WE GO AROUND THE WORLD?

The main venue of the Circle of Light 2017 festival in Moscow is Ostankino. On September 23 at 20.00 the opening ceremony of the festival will take place there. The country's main television tower celebrates its half-century anniversary this year. The technology of projecting three-dimensional images onto an architectural object - video mapping - will allow the birthday girl to “try on” images of the tallest buildings in the world.

The famous skyscrapers and television towers of France, the UAE, Canada, the USA, China, Japan and Australia will appear before the audience against the backdrop of the natural attractions of these countries.

Fountains, burners, and lighting fixtures will be installed on Ostankino Pond. Guests will be treated to an extraordinary multimedia show combining light, lasers, choreography of fountains and fire, as well as a grandiose pyrotechnic show.

THEATRICAL NOVEL

Theater Square (September 23 - 27, 19.30 - 23.00). On this site, the “Celestial Mechanics” program is a kind of non-verbal dialogue of a couple in love and a plastic dialogue of two buildings. The synthesis of choreography, drama and light will erase the boundaries between the Bolshoi and Maly theaters.

The second show is Timeless. The Maly Theater will invite you on a journey through centuries and eras along with the great Russian classics. Denying the linear flow of time, decorations created from historical sketches will appear on two facades at once, and scenes from famous performances will unfold.

Also at the Bolshoi and Maly theaters the works of participants in the Art Vision competition will be shown.

Free admission.

The powerful finale of the festival will be a show in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater. For the first time in Russia, viewers can expect a large-scale 35-minute pyrotechnic show from Japanese manufacturers. According to the organizers, Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. For the show, barges will be installed on the water, on which pyrotechnic installations will be placed. The charges of Japanese fireworks are much larger than usual, each shot is made manually, and the design is individual. They will open at an altitude of 500 meters, and the diameter of the light domes will be about 240 meters.

You can attend the festival, as in previous years, absolutely free!

FACT

Last year, the Circle of Light festival was visited by 6 million people!

BY THE WAY

Festival events will be held simultaneously at two indoor venues.

On September 24, the “Art Vision VJing” competition will take place in the “Mir” theater and concert hall, where teams from different countries compete in the skill of creating light images to music. And on September 23 and 24, the Digital October center will host free educational lectures by lighting designers from all over the world.

During the Circle of Light festival, 10 streets will be closed.

A few days before the start of the Circle of Light festival, information about the sale of tickets to Krylatskoye appeared on completely different Internet sites. The sellers assured that the ticket gave the owner the right to attend the show as a VIP. Ticket prices started at 1.5 thousand rubles and reached, at some venues, up to 8 thousand. The festival organizers emphasize that admission to all events will be free, and ticket sellers are nothing more than scammers. However, there is one caveat.

According to the organizers, all five open areas are available to everyone, without any restrictions. In other words, no tickets, invitations, etc. Not needed. Anyone can come and watch the show. The only site that differs from the rest is the Rowing Canal in Krylatskoye. And the point is not that this is where the most colorful action of unprecedented proportions will take place, but that the stands will initially be located on this site. In order not to create unnecessary excitement and somehow control the large mass of people, it was decided to close them off and provide access to the stands only with special invitation cards.

“Entrance to all sites of the Moscow International Festival “Circle of Light” is free to visit. In 2018, the grandstand is only at the Grebnoy Canal site in Krylatskoye. Invitation tickets can be won by participating in competitions held in the official communities of the Circle of Light festival. Tickets will also be raffled off from the festival’s media partners: for example, Avtoradio in morning broadcast, Children's Radio, Humor FM and other radio stations. Traditionally, Muscovites can become ticket holders by participating in a special event of the “Active Citizen” project. The remaining tickets are distributed through government agencies, charitable organizations and social institutions“, the press service of the Moscow international festival “Circle of Light” told the Krylatskoe.ru portal.

They also explained that all such invitations indicate that “tickets are not for sale.”

“Everyone who tries to sell tickets to the Circle of Light festival events is committing fraud,” the organizers emphasized.

Apparently, tickets to the stands of the Grebnoy Canal are sold by those who received them by participating in various kinds of events and projects. At the same time, purchasing such tickets “not for sale” carries a rather high risk. The fact is that among the sellers there may be real scammers who sell non-existent tickets, for example, those printed on a color printer, or electronic ones. Since tickets were not on sale in principle, buying them in person could lead to problems. Controllers will check them and not allow into the stands those people who have “counterfeits” on their hands. At the same time, it is impossible to prove that you purchased them legally, since, as already emphasized above, they were not put on sale.

The Moscow International Festival "Circle of Light" will be held in Moscow from September 21 to 25. In total, five open areas will be used: Tsaritsyno, Kolomenskoye, Teatralnaya Square, Museum of Victory on Poklonnaya Hill"and the Rowing Canal in Krylatskoye. At the same time, two main events, opening and closing, will take place this year in Krylatskoye.

According to the organizers, last year, 2017, the show was attended by a total of about four million people. This time the number of viewers may reach five million. At the same time, it is possible that the site in Krylatskoye will be visited by the largest number of light show lovers - about half a million people.
