What do you think is the most inconvenient thing about being an artist?
Drive, fly, sleep. Sleeping is the most uncomfortable thing - especially while sitting on an airplane, or on a bus, or, God forbid, on a train. I also get motion sickness, so...

Why is it worse on a train than on a plane or bus? You can lie down there and stretch your legs...
This is inexplicable to me. I can't, that's all. It's easiest to sleep on an airplane.

“Pizza” has many duets, mainly with Russian rap artists. Who was the easiest to write and record with?
It was easiest with L’One; he is very ideological and active. One day he came to my apartment while I was working on new material. I already had the drums and guitar recorded. And he suggested working together to finalize the composition. His phone was ringing with calls, to which he answered: “I’m working!” This surprised me very much, because for example, I don’t consider the writing process to be work, it’s more for fun. He has a more serious approach. In general, he sat down and made up a verse, inspired me with this, and I wrote my own. As a result, we created the composition in one day.

There was a period when Yuri Shevchuk was recording in America, “Time Machine” was in the Abbey Road studio, Alexey Vorobyov boasts that he works in Los Angeles, and your songs were written in an apartment. And the output result is approximately the same as Vorobiev’s. So the idea of ​​high-budget, high-tech music production has become obsolete?
I mix albums in a good Moscow studio, but I do all the arrangements myself - I record piano, guitars and everything else. Yes, sound quality matters a lot, but for me the most important thing is the creative idea. Of course, you can record a great-sounding album with good technology, but without an idea it will have no value to me. Therefore, I focus on this factor; everything else is just an arrangement.

Please name the musical projects without which “Pizza” would not be what it is today?
The Beatles, early Leonid Agutin, Bob Marley. And a lot of hip-hop.

What's on your playlist right now?
My album, which will be released on October 7th. Now it alternates withThe Beatles, more precisely with their album Abbey Road.

“Pizza” has a lot of clips in the rotation of music channels. Are these stories that you would like to tell yourself, or are these the stories of directors that they tell for you?
Great question. I am an auditory person and have a mediocre attitude towards clips. I can’t do visualization simply because I’m blind in this matter. I have ideological people who work with competent directors. And they do it very well. I judge at the level of “like it or not.” But I can’t explain why this or that video catches me or not.

Which of the stories told in the videos is closest to you?
Video "Tuesday". This story was invented by our PR manager Daria Erina. By the way, she is from Saratov. The idea that was embodied in this video gives me chills. And this is the most important thing in both songs and videos. Goosebumps are a criterion of internal success. I'm not at all sure if anyone else will have them, but I make music first and foremost for myself.

In the studio, you make all the music for “Pizza” almost alone. How many people are on your team now?
There are three of us on stage: me, my sister - she plays the violin and piano - and our guitarist Ramses. And we are accompanied by a sound engineer and a manager. We also have a PR specialist, the most important manager, and a lot more. A whole army.

Is it difficult to go on stage without a group and sing alone?
I perform with minus, sometimes I sing with a guitar. But this only happens on some thematic sets. We were at a country retreat near Moscow: there was a fire burning, people were sitting around it, and I was playing the guitar. This, I tell you, is the best performance! Many of my compositions, especially from the first album, sound best with a guitar.

It is generally accepted that the later an album was created, the more perfect it is. But you always get the impression that the first and second were the most sincere. Don't you have one?
The first album is always the most honest and sincere. Because you write it all your life, and the second one - one year, this is already expected of you. But we have eternal concerts, nerves, and all this is mixed up in our heads. Our second album was pretty much a shambles. But in the third everything calmed down: I’m saying that the third album is the same as the first, only better. He is more experienced and strong. I listen to him non-stop. These songs give me goosebumps, which is strange, because it would seem that I am the author. I wrote these words and sounds. But he doesn’t let go. This best songs that I have ever written. But it seems so to me, I can’t even imagine what listeners will say about him.

What kind of people are Pizza fans?

Some artists say that art should bring joy to people, others say that it should make people think and lead to suffering. Which camp are you in?
Probably in both. You need to make people think, sometimes even cry. But after tears there should be a feeling that tomorrow will only be better. I hope such thoughts are born after many of our compositions, because they are more about good than bad.

Isn't it hard to go on tour and perform with your own sister? This is the same person you probably fought with as a child.
We have never had a confrontation in our lives, we are not brought up like that. We never quarreled in our family - neither among ourselves, nor with mom, nor with dad. We have always had peace. And my songs largely relate to this topic. I don't talk about it openly, but I hope it's read.

What do you talk about openly in music?
About love. I sing about it because everything else is small - today it is, but tomorrow it is gone.

Have you ever made pizza with your own hands?
Never in my life! And I don't order it. I don’t eat it at all: I don’t really like it, it gives me heartburn. I like dumplings or borscht - something homemade.

The group with the delicious name “Pizza” is loved by young people just like this Italian delicacy. However, the band’s work can in no way be classified as musical fast food. The genre ingredients of their repertoire are very diverse: hip-hop, pop-soul, reggae, funk. This “cool mix” ensures the original sound of the songs, giving them a special melody.

The group was created in 2010. The leader of the musical trio is Sergei Prikazchikov. He is also the founder, lead singer, songwriter and arranger. Also in the team are Nikolai Smirnov and Tatyana Prikazchikova, Sergei’s younger sister.

Sergey: Once upon a time I began to invent songs and write music. Time passed, I studied, my taste changed, and accordingly, the directions of my musical style changed, from rap to pop-soul and reggae. And in the end it all came to what you hear now. I didn’t look at anyone and didn’t set myself any super goals - to become a star or something like that. This is the situation when you just do something for fun, and one day people notice it, and a cool story begins. Despite everything, in terms of creativity, nothing has changed now. I also write and produce myself. The rest of the band members are excellent musicians, sometimes they come up with their own parts. Sometimes it even works out ( laughs). But often Tanya and Kolya do not agree at all with my choice of arrangement style, they have their own taste, and I respect that. They certainly bring their own special character to the sound of “Pizza,” but only when it doesn’t go against the atmosphere I’ve already created. Most often I come up with everything myself, including their parts. This is the only way I can fully embody the feeling that appears in me and gives me goosebumps.

SNCMedia: In the video “To the Entire Planet Earth,” you restored justice and presented an Oscar to Leonardo DiCaprio, when he really didn’t have this award. And now there is. What other injustice would you like to correct?

Sergey: I don't agree with the distribution of sunlight across the planet. Russia needs California's climate. There winter lasts a week and the worst thing is rain, wind and temperature +10.

SNCMedia: I know that you don’t like this question, but still: why don’t you like pizza?

Sergey: I love pizza, but my body doesn't like it. Just like he doesn’t like any fast food at all, be it a burger or shawarma, for example. I like the taste, but I don't like the feeling after at all. That's why I created my "Pizza". There are no unpleasant sensations after it.

SNCMedia: And after you became famous, did it become easier for you to communicate with girls? And in general, is it possible to arrange dates and meet someone with your schedule?

Sergey: You can find time for girls in any schedule! And don’t believe those who make themselves poor and claim the opposite. I dedicate all my songs to the girls, without them I could not write anything.

SNCMedia: This year is ending, how was it for you personally?

Sergey: I moved to a new apartment and am building a studio here. I want to be able to do everything at home, right down to the last sound of the arrangement and the final voice recording. During the year we played more than 150 concerts. So it was a good year in every sense.

SNCMedia: Tell us a little about your clothing style: what are you comfortable in in everyday life, what would you never wear under any circumstances, is there a dress code for performances?

Sergey: I don’t divide clothes into “ordinary life” and “scene” at all. I guess I just like to combine different styles both in clothes and in music.

I don’t have to get into any characters, so it’s easier for me than for many other artists. Although... on the other hand, it may be more difficult: I don’t have a specific style. Yesterday I was wearing a biker jacket and rough boots, today I was wearing a long coat, sweatpants and sneakers, tomorrow I was wearing a sweater and trousers.

SNCMedia: How do you deal with criticism and negative comments on social networks?

Sergey: Naturally, I hate it when people write bad things about me or my music. But you can immediately see where it is constructive and where it is stupid hate. I'm thinking about it.

SNCMedia: You once said in an interview that you wanted to leave the stage. Why? And what would you do if not music?

Sergey: The fact is that I performed on stage for a total of 18 years in different groups. During this time a lot happened. At some point, I won’t lie, I was disappointed. In any case, I would have stayed in music, I would have just done studio work, and would not have appeared on stage. The saddest thing is that at that moment, I did not want to write my own songs, considering this activity stupid and unworthy of a serious person. But it quickly passed, which I’m incredibly happy about, and the songs just started appearing on their own. (smiles).

SNCMedia: The Pizza group has a page on Wikipedia, but you personally do not. Why? Will you fix the situation?

Sergey: Wikipedia has a strange system. We changed the name of the guitarist there several times after we hired a new one, but someone always replaced him with the old one. If suddenly someone is interested in knowing something about me, you can find my interviews or ask me personally, for example on VKontakte. I will answer, unless, of course, it is a question: why did you call the group “Pizza” (laughs).

SNCMedia: Which of the domestic stars have you already recorded duets with (I’m just afraid to list, in case I forget who) and which of the Western stars do you dream of doing this with?

Sergey: I have wonderful collaborations with Sanya ST, Karandash, Nigative, Bianca and L-One. But this was not a well-thought-out action; everything worked out somehow by itself, or at the suggestion of other artists. When I write a song, I don't want to share it with anyone at all. The song is very personal, like a child. I don’t know why I should call someone stranger and offer to dress my child and take me to kindergarten, for example. I'll do it myself. Another thing is joint creativity, when both members of the duet write a song. I would love to write a song together with Leonid Agutin. Or with Basta. Among the Western ones, I really like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.

The Pizza project is a fresh vision of music. Original and ambiguous, like the name itself. It does not fit into the usual framework.
