June 22, 1941 was a day off. In Kamyshlov, traditional races were held at the hippodrome, where many townspeople gathered and families came to relax. My girlfriends, students of the pedagogical college, also went there.

“We didn’t understand anything while on the run,” smiles Tatyana Kuzminichna, “but everyone got there, and so did we.” And suddenly Molotov announced on the radio that Germany had attacked Soviet Union. Suddenly everything fell down, the women burst into tears, the men hurried to the military registration and enlistment office. Everyone went back from the racetrack. And a difficult life began. Sometimes we were called to help unload trains with the wounded.
We went to the hospital with concerts. They helped: someone to write letters to, someone to just talk to. Moreover, we were trained to be tractor drivers and nurses.

After teacher training school, I was assigned to Asbest, where I worked at the school for a year. And then the friend she came with got married, and Tatyana wrote an application to volunteer for the front. The year was 1943.

“There was a call that the army needed people. Do you know what patriotism we had! And posters everywhere: “The Motherland is calling!” Just at this time, girls were being recruited. And we made up the fifth separate VNOS battalion - air surveillance, warning and communications. Now this is called air defense. It was formed in Sverdlovsk. The next day we were loaded into carriages and taken to Izhevsk. Studying began there.

First meeting

The first commander turned out to be too loud. He lines up the girls and leads them into the forest for tactical training. He taught me to crawl on my bellies, dig trenches, and be able to protect myself in order to remain intact. Then another company commander took over. He spoke quietly and sang songs while on vacation. And so everyone loved him.

“And then I ask him: are you a teacher?” He says yes. That's why I think he doesn't scream. There is no point in shouting, it will only make everyone angry. We were observers, we had to watch the air. The entire sky is divided into squares in the field of vision and hearing. And our task is to listen to whose plane is flying - Soviet or enemy. And what kind - bomber, fighter or reconnaissance aircraft. As soon as he appears, we look at him through strong binoculars and tell the anti-aircraft gunners: welcome, the guest is coming!

So a month of studying passed. Then they were loaded onto trains and taken to the front. The train often stopped: the manpower - the soldiers - was allowed forward. And they also carried Katyushas. We arrived at the inscription: the city of Belgorod. And there is no city. Only pipes. Furnaces and pipes. The city was burned.
– This was my first encounter with war. Creepy. The station did not accept the train, and we were allowed to get out of the car, but not to go anywhere. And one soldier from the service platoon decided to climb the hill to look at the city. I climbed in and there was an unexploded grenade. He took her, but she was without a ring. It burst, and his whole stomach was torn apart. And here we understood what discipline is.

It's just a war...

2nd Ukrainian Front. The city of Kirovograd, where some of the observers were stationed. Tatyana Kuzminichna remembers a lot, although it is not easy even now, when more than seventy years are behind her.

– One day they gave me an order: to deliver documents to Kharkov, to the division headquarters. The city is completely destroyed. There is not a single whole house on the way, where to go? We drew a plan of how to go, where to turn. I remembered everything, but the card was torn.

The staff consists of 130 employees. There are 53 teachers in the team. In accordance with this, the educational process is built on scientifically based recommendations that guarantee the achievement of planned results. The problem of the quality of education is directly related to the preparation of specialists who are competitive in the labor market.
